　　鍋爐（lú）是一種能量轉換設備，向鍋（guō）爐輸入（rù）的能量有（yǒu）燃料中的化學能、電能、高（gāo）溫煙氣的熱能（néng）等形式，而經過鍋爐轉換，向外輸出具有一定熱能的（de）蒸汽、高溫水或有機熱載體。多用於火電站、船舶、機車（chē）和工礦企業。

　　鍋爐的主要工作原理是一種利用燃料燃燒後釋放的熱能或工業生產中的餘熱傳遞給容器內的水，使水達到所（suǒ）需要的溫度或一定壓（yā）力蒸汽的熱力設備。鍋爐在“鍋”與“爐（lú）”兩部分同時進行，水進入鍋爐以後，在汽水係統中鍋（guō）爐受（shòu）熱麵將吸收的熱量傳遞給水，使水加熱成一定（dìng）溫（wēn）度和（hé）壓力（lì）的熱水或生成蒸汽，被引出應用。在燃燒設備部分，燃料燃燒不斷放出（chū）熱量，燃（rán）燒產生的高溫煙氣通（tōng）過熱的傳播，將熱量傳遞給鍋爐受熱（rè）麵，而本身溫度逐漸降低，最後由煙囪排出。
